The MITRE Corporation, one of Fortune Magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For, seeks candidates for a newly created position in Corporate Records and Archives. The incumbent will play a central role in evolving enterprise records management activities, including deployment of a new electronic records management system throughout the Corporation.
Working closely with the Corporate Records and Archives Manager, the incumbent will:
• Implement electronic records management in accordance with industry best practice.
• Support evolving Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) and Records Management (RM) initiatives by planning, coordinating, and deploying standard RM operations throughout the Corporation for electronic and paper records.
• Contribute to policy, framework, and procedural decisions and development for MITRE RM.
• Analyze the effectiveness of record-keeping operations in corporate departments and provide
recommendations for improvements.
• Work with corporate business units to integrate RM with MITRE business processes.
• Communicate records policies and best practices to staff, while supporting training and change management activities within the RM space.
• Contribute to the cooperative development and review of the Records Retention Schedule and file plan by working with the legal department and monitoring and reporting changes in law, policy, technology, and industry that impact MITRE records.
• Implement record classification, indexing, retention, and disposition tools for Corporate Records services.
• Provide operational service backup to Records and Archives staff as needed, including day-to-day assistance with customer reference requests.
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor's, plus 6 years experience or the equivalent in job-relevant work experience
Desired Education/Experience:
Records Management Certification (CRM) or Masters Degree in Information Science-related discipline with bachelor's degree in allied discipline is required. Experience with at least one commercial electronic RM system is strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years professional experience in RM or corporate archives work is strongly preferred.
Required Skills:
Thorough knowledge of various filing systems, file plans, RM applications, retention schedules, and RM standards is required. Strong customer service orientation is critical. The successful candidate will possess strong communication, writing, presentation, and project management s
kills.
Proficiency with MS Office products including Excel, PowerPoint and Access is required. Ability to lift boxes and objects of up to 40 lbs and climb ladders for box retrieval is required. This position will require periodic travel and a U.S. Government Secret security clearance*.
Desired Skills:
Experience with MS SharePoint, Oracle or Microsoft SQL and scripting tools is preferred. Familiarity with archival principles is preferred. Familiarity with science and engineering research is desirable.
